about the scheme
A GOVERNMENT GRANT DESIGNED TO GET OLDER CARS OFF IRISH ROADS
The ICE2EV scrappage scheme is a €10 million Government of Ireland initiative, administered by the SEAI and announced by Minister for Transport Darragh O'Brien on 3rd June 2026, as part of Ireland's drive to accelerate the switch to zero-emission transport.
Scrap a qualifying petrol or diesel car, buy a new EV, and the €8,500 grant is deducted from the price at point of purchase. Your Renault dealer handles the entire process with SEAI - no separate application required. Budget is limited and split between rural and urban applicants.
Once a category's budget is exhausted, it closes. Register your interest with your local Renault dealer now to secure your place in the queue.
