Charging Megane E-Tech electric:  

• At home, use a domestic plug socket or your Wallbox unit.

Charging time varies depending on the selected configuration.

Standard Charge : with standard charge, whether at home or at a public station, Megane E-Tech electric recharges up to 50 km of driving range in 1 hour, so you can fully charge your battery overnight (7 to 10 hours depending on the battery). This charging mode is also compatible with all public charging stations including DC fast charging points (mainly on motorways) to recover up to 200 km WLTP in ~30 minutes with a power peak of 85 kW. 

Boost Charge : In addition to home charging, you can enjoy the full power of AC public charging stations up to 22 kW with this version (charges 3x faster than Super Charge). Also compatible with DC rapid chargers to recover up to 200 km WLTP in ~30 minutes with a power peak of 85 kW.

Super Charge :  Ideal for home recharging at 7kW single-phase charging points, for a full charge overnight (9 hours). Also compatible with direct current (DC) fast chargers to recover up to 300 kms WLTP in 30 minutes, with a maximum peak of 130 kW.

Optimum Charge : In addition to home charging, this version allows you to take advantage of the full power of public AC charging points up to 22kW (3x faster charging than Super Charge). It's also compatible with fast DC chargers to recover up to 300 kms WLTP in 30 minutes, with a maximum peak of 130 kW.

The battery in Megane E-Tech electric has no “memory effect”. It is equipped with lithium-ion technology is the best on the market. It  optimises your driving range. This means you can  charge as needed, even partially, without risk of diminishing performance. 

To optimise your charging time, particularly on a quick charge station, we recommend charging your vehicle only when the battery has less than 20% driving range remaining.

Using your MyRenault app, remotely control charge levels for your Megane E-Tech electric. Need to charge? At home, remotely activate charging on your vehicle using your smartphone.

Depending on your version of Megane E-Tech electric, quick charging is an option on the road and lets you charge up to 300 km WLTP in 30 minutes.

To take full advantage of quick charging, we recommend charging the battery only when your remaining driving range is less than 20%.

Charging costs vary depending on the operator.

Billing methods also vary, either charging by kW, charging time or by charging speed (on quick charge stations).

For optimal charging during a business trip, the Google Maps route planner built into your openR link proposes the best possible journey, taking into consideration the battery, the vehicle’s remaining driving range, road conditions, and the availability of charging stations (types of stations and their rates).

The Megane E-Tech electric planner* lets you condition the battery to make fast charging as efficient as possible. Available as standard on Evolution, Techno and Iconic.

With the 60 kWh battery, drive up to 470 km* WLTP in combined cycle and up to 300 km on the motorway with a full charge. With the 40 kWh battery, drive up to 300 km* WLTP in combined cycle, i.e. up to 200 km on the motorway with a full charge.

Megane E-Tech electric is equipped with a regenerative braking system. When the vehicle brakes or slows down, the energy output is recovered to power your electric battery and extend its driving range.

Plus, take advantage of connected services with the openR link system with Google built-in to optimise your driving range in real time and navigate safely.

Like all batteries, electric vehicle batteries are sensitive to extreme temperature fluctuations.

The increased energy efficiency of Megane E-Tech electric offers optimal driving range in all use conditions, both in summer and in winter.

To optimise the battery life in cold temperatures, we recommend the “winter performance”* pack:

• boost your driving range by approximately 10% on the motorway in temperatures as low as -5°C, and enjoy faster charging;

• increase your driving range by approximately 20% for city driving in temperatures below -5°C. A true ally against cold weather, the smart energy recovery system captures the heat produced by the battery and powertrain and redirects it to heat the passenger compartment.

Megane E-Tech electric is perfectly suited to long journeys as it is fitted with a 60 kWh battery and has a charging power of up to 130 kWh. It has a driving range of up to 470 km WLTP* in combined cycle and up to 300 km on the motorway.

The route planner for electric vehicles is the perfect assistant on long journeys. Activate it on your multimedia system to plan your route. Its predictive feature helps you adapt to your travel conditions in real time and guides you to available charging stations.

Electronic devices have minimal impact on the driving range of your Megane E-Tech electric.

To optimise your daily driving range, adopt good habits and develop a more relaxed and energy-efficient driving style!

On the Megane E-Tech electric central screen, the route planner estimates the anticipated driving rage based on the weather conditions, road traffic and speed limits posted for the selected route.

The dashboard displays the driving range based on the most recent kilometres driven.

If your driving style or road conditions change during your journey, the driving range displayed on the dashboard may very well be different than the planner’s estimated driving range displayed on the central screen.

The cost of the battery is included in the purchase price of Megane E-Tech electric.

Once you own the vehicle, the battery certificate will become available on your My Renault account.

You can also view your battery status on your My Renault app.

Renault offers you an 8-year and 160,000-km warranty, at 70% of your battery’s initial performance level.

Renault no longer offers battery rental. 

The type of cable you should use depends on the Megane E-Tech electric version.

Your Megane E-Tech electric is equipped with a mode 3 type 2 cable as standard. You can connect this cable to your home charging unit or to any public charging station (in AC, more than 90% of public stations in France).

If a charging point is unavailable or for occasionally charging, get a Mode 2 “Flexicharger”* cable to charge your Megane E-Tech electric on a 3.7 kW Green’up reinforced socket. It takes between 20 and 30 hours to fully charge your vehicle using this cable.

All versions are equipped as standard with a DC fast charger (130 kW or DC 85 kW maximum power peak depending on versions), which is compatible with the high-power charging stations located on motorways. No need for an additional cable for this charging mode. The cables are directly attached to the charging station. Just like filling up at the pumps.

The charging cable provided with Megane E-Tech electric is 5 metres long.

6.5-metre cables are also available and can be ordered from your dealership.

On Megane E-Tech electric, the charging flap is located at the front right of the vehicle.

Bidirectional charging is not yet available with Megane E-Tech electric.

Quick charging is available on all Megane E-Tech electric versions.

Super Charge and Optimum Charge versions on the 60 kWh battery are equipped with a quick charger (maximum power peak DC 130 kW) as standard. It is compatible with high-power charging stations located in motorway networks. No need for an additional cable for this charging mode: cables are directly attached to the charging station, just like the hose at the petrol station.

Standard Charge and Boost Charge versions with the 40 kWh battery are equipped with a DC fast charger providing a maximum power peak of 85 kW.

Connect to Google Maps on your Megane E-Tech electric and let it guide you to the nearest charging station.

With the route planner for electric vehicles, organise your pit stops and charging, so you can arrive at your destination with peace of mind. It will even show you the charging power and price.

Multiply your battery’s total capacity by the price per kilowatt-hour. Although the average charging cost varies depending on certain criteria (battery level, electricity provider, cable type), you can nevertheless have a relatively accurate estimate of your charging cost. 

 
In Europe, the average charging cost per 100 km is estimated at between 2 and 4 euros, depending on the country.

With Megane E-Tech electric, maintenance is made easy, with no more oil changes or belt replacements required!

The same is true for your brake pads and discs. Their lifespan is significantly longer because regenerative braking lets you use your brake pedal less often.

With fewer parts to replace (filters, spark plugs, belts, etc.) and less servicing time required (no more oil changes), you can save up to 30% on maintenance costs* with Megane E-Tech electric compared to an equivalent fuel-powered vehicle, depending on the driving profile.

Megane E-Tech electric is less expensive to use than a fuel-powered vehicle in the same category, helping you to:

• save on fuel: by charging at home, you can save between €1,500 and €1,600 a year* compared to the equivalent fuel consumption;

• save on wear and tear parts: some parts will need to be replaced less frequently than on a fuel-powered vehicle. For example, the regenerative braking system helps you save on brake pads,

The battery in Megane E-Tech electric is designed to last the entire lifespan of your vehicle.

Megane E-Tech electric boasts a totally new powertrain.

It features a wound rotor synchronous motor offering better efficiency that with the permanent magnets motor technology.

The lack of rare-earth elements reduces its environmental impact and large-scale production costs.

In addition, the battery is totally renewed. The thinnest on the market, its battery is no more than 110 mm tall.

To successfully design such a small battery, engineers tweaked the chemistry of LG lithium-ion batteries with NMC technology (for “Nickle, Manganese, Cobalt”), integrating more nickel and less cobalt, for greater energy density.

The battery is hardly the only part to be recycled: 95% of the weight of Megane E-Tech electric will be harvested.

At least 85% of the materials will be recycled and reused in the circular economy. The other 10% will be incinerated, with the energy produced being recovered.
