A user-friendly triangle icon serves as the entry-point for reporting incidents. This feature allows you to stay informed, make more informed route choices, and potentially avoid unexpected delays or hazards during your journey.

The new routing feature of Google Maps allows you to adopt safer routes during winter events. It avoids directing you onto unmaintained county roads and forest paths in adverse weather conditions, instead favouring high-priority roads that are often monitored and plowed. This optimisation also helps to avoid roads likely to be covered in snow, opting for safer paths rather than the fastest ones. Connected to real-time weather data, it won't guide you onto small, unmaintained roads during snow or heavy rain.

This helps you stay informed, make better route choices, and potentially avoid unexpected delays or hazards. Additionally, it communicates road closure information on low-traffic roads to drivers within minutes of awareness.
