R5 Turbo 2: the legend lives on
To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the legendary R5 Turbo 2, Renault has unveiled a brand-new concept car.
Just as sharp-looking and equally spectacular, the stunning R5 Turbo 3E E-Tech delivers the same jaw-dropping performance as its namesake. However, there’s one very big difference, our latest innovation is 100% electric.
Two electric motors located at the rear of the car generate 280 kW (380 hp) of power, 700 Nm of torque, and lots and lots of drift. This is enhanced by a new fin blade, redesigned air intakes, and an air resistance-reducing front bumper. Even the wing mirrors have been replaced by camera brackets, which not only reduce drag but let you record every action-packed second. Red LED rim lights automatically light up during drifts, and the headlights play a glitch art-inspired animation to add to the spectacle.
To mark R5 TURBO 3E E-Tech arrival Renault invited five international teams of renowned gamers and Renault ambassadors to put it through its paces in a virtual race tournament. The R5CUP was streamed live and received over 566,000 views.
