WHAT IS THE CONSUMPTION OF A HYBRID CAR?

E-Tech full hybrid - consumption - Renault
E-Tech hybrid technology, less consumption
Our full hybrid  powertrains help to reduce fuel consumption through smart electronic management of the different motors.
The electric and combustion components operate independently or together, as needed, to reduce fuel consumption.

the consumption of E-Tech full hybrid vehicles

Full hybrid vehicles have been designed to optimise your journeys and make your everyday life easier. Petrol, electricity, “driving range”... here is some key information about E-Tech full hybrid technology.
FUEL SAVINGS
E-Tech full hybrid - fuel savings - Renault
fuel savings
The main difference with combustion-powered vehicles is in the fuel savings. They can be up to 25% on so-called “mixed” journeys (in the countryside on clear roads) and these savings can reach up to 40% in town.* *WLTP referenc
MANAGING CONSUMPTION
E-Tech full hybrid - managing consumption - Renault
managing consumption
Switching between the different traction modes (electric, hybrid and combustion) helps full hybrid vehicles to consume less fuel than the equivalent combustion engine models.
Consumption is optimised by automatically switching from one mode to another and using regenerative braking. The car’s energy management system permanently and autonomously controls consumption.
ELECTRIC DRIVING

electric driving
In a full hybrid vehicle, we talk about time spent in electric driving mode, rather than driving range.
In an E-Tech full hybrid vehicle, the battery recharges itself depending on how much you brake and slow down, meaning that full driving time cannot be pre-calculated. However, we estimate that electric driving time can cover up to 80% of your urban journeys.

electric driving and consumption solutions

E-Tech full hybrid - e-nav - Renault
the “E-Nav” and “predictive hybrid driving” functions
E-Tech technology is associated with the Hybrid Predictive Driving function to help optimise the battery charge according to your destination.
Depending on where you are, the car determines exactly when it will pass through a city or encounter a specific topography and knows when to use combustion, hybrid or 100% electric driving. This improves your fuel consumption and driving range, as well as your vehicle’s performance.

With E-Save mode, you choose to keep at least 40% of the electric driving range of your vehicle to be used at the best time.

your questions about the consumption of a hybrid vehicle

WHAT DOES THE TRACTION BATTERY DO?
The traction battery is used to store the energy needed to operate a hybrid vehicle when driving in hybrid and 100% electric modes.
HOW DO YOU RECHARGE THE TRACTION BATTERY?
It recharges in 3 different ways:
  • by recovering energy when you slow down and during braking. This is known as regenerative braking (kinetic energy, from movement, is transformed into electric energy).
  • by optimising the combustion engine to generate electricity during what is known as hybrid or combustion mode.
  • by connecting the vehicle to an electric charging point (but this option only applies to plug-in hybrid vehicles).
    ARE TRACTION BATTERIES ALSO RECYCLED?
As is the case for electric vehicles, Renault recycles the batteries used in its hybrid range through a collaboration with specialist industrial partners.
